La Garage, Leura
It was about a two hour bus trip from Sydney to the Blue Mountain range at Katoomba. Luckily though we had a very chatty bus driver who had huge amount of facts, knowledge and opinions on pretty much everything in Australian past and present history, and some lovely scenery to been seen from my window. Our first stop was at The Three Sister lookout at Echo Point, were the vast beauty of the mountain range with its mystical blue hase stands at asks you to bow down to its beauty. With its fascinating Aboriginal history, the story of the Three Sisters, and the Information centre is a must visit. Then it was a hop, skip and a short bus trip to the Skyway Station were we hoped on the steepest railway in the world; the 52 Degrees Railway down the the vertical drop of the mountain through the forest to the valley below. In the lush tree covered world below we walked along the walkways the were suspended above the forest floor looking at the unusual trees and all the objects and ruins left from the old mine that was once located there. We then took the cable car back up to the Skyway Station and hoped back onto our bus. On the way back to Sydney we stopped for lunch in the lovely town of Leura and we decided to eat in the funky bistro, La Garage which was a renovated car garage and had amazing decor and the best steak sandwich I have ever eaten.Yumtastic!!!
Once we finished we were back on the bus and on our way back to Sydney for one last stop at Featherdale Wildlife Park before we landed back at our drop off. Pictures of Featherdale to Follow......The Blue Mountains/Featherdale Wildlife Park day trip was a package we bought at one of the information centres on Circular Quay and included entry into three city attractions for $160, which was great value, so make sure you check out the deals on offer before you buy!!!!
